Introduction to 2004 Advent Devotions…..

Greetings to my Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Welcome to the Season of Advent.  The word Advent derives its meaning from the Latin phrase Aventus Domini, meaning "the coming of the Lord."  Often, it is understood to refer to the first coming of Jesus.  More completely, though Adventus Domini refers to the coming of the Lord in the past, today, and especially at the end of time.  The season of Advent, therefore, is a season filled with anticipation, not just for the commemoration of the birth of Jesus but also anticipation of current, future, and final manifestations.

This devotional is offered by the family and friends of Grace Lutheran Church to provide some spiritual guidance and time for reflection upon the Advent of Christ. Hopefully you will find this devotional to be helpful to you as you prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ.

In closing I would like to offer you a blessing for Advent.

"May the holy and living God bless you in darkness and in light, in fasting and in feasting, in sadness and in joy."

Please use this blessing with family and friends throughout the Advent Season.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Billy
